PERRspectives: Rubio, Like McCain, Pledges to Vote Against His Own Immigration Bill
"Hispanic voter weren't buying his act, and on Election Day delivered their ballots to Barack Obama by a 66 to 32 percent margin. Four years later, Mitt Romney self-deported more Latino voters to the Democratic Party, losing that vital demographic block by a staggering 71 to 27 percent.
Hoping to catapult his White House hopes and rescue his Republican Party in 2016, Marco Rubio is trying to perform McCain's trick. But as McCain learned the hard way, voters know what a trick is."

In the latest numbers from the Philadelphia Fed, which is a monthly state-by-state index of leading economic growth indicators, Wisconsin ranks 49th in the nation.

Limbaugh, O'Reilly costing Republicans elections

www.dailykos.com/story/2013/06/04/1213757/-Limbaugh-O-Reilly-costing-Republicans-elections
"Republicans decided to figure out why young voters were avoiding their party like MySpace: The most damning conclusions lay in the survey’s examination of how people view the two major parties in terms of broad attributes. For Democrats, young voters chose “tolerant,” “diverse” and “open-minded,” while for Republicans they often chose “rich” and “religious.”
In focus groups in January, the report said, young voters were asked to list leaders of the Democratic Party. “They named prominent former or currently elected officials: Pelosi, the Clintons, Obama, Kennedy, Gore. When those same respondents were asked to name Republican leaders, they focused heavily on media personalities and commentators: Bill O’Reilly, Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck.”

So it’s not terribly surprising that when they were asked what words came to mind when they heard "Republican Party," the results "were brutal — closed-minded, racist, rigid, old-fashioned"."

GOP Viewed As ‘Closed Minded, Racist, Rigid’ By College Students In Republican Survey

www.addictinginfo.org/2013/06/03/gop-viewed-as-closed-minded-racist-rigid-by-college-students-in-republican-survey-video/
"Republicans belief in trickle-down economics as the way to induce a robust economy has failed. Reagan started that process while George W. Bush continued it on steroids. Young people can see that hard work does not necessarily make wealth and success anymore. The people sitting on their rear ends moving capital are the ones rewarded. When young people leave college with a large debt load and they hear that a Republican Party wants to leave loan rates that float with the desires of bankers, they understand the party may say they care, but their actions say otherwise.
When young people see austerity measures that, even though publicly debunked, are still the core of the Republican ideology and actions, they understand that the party has no intention in investing in them, even as those who are rewarded today profited by policies youth will be paying for. Young people understand that the income and wealth disparity can be directly attributed to the same policies Republicans continue to push.
When young people see the caricature that characterizes many of the Tea Party rallies and the hate for government these “we the people” groups promote, they become embarrassed for the country that preaches tolerance."

Among the changes: The jobless will have to prove each week they looked for four, not just two jobs, to get benefits, and the state will be able to spy on - and freeze - their bank accounts to make sure they didn't get an extra 20 bucks, even if it was the state that screwed up the payments. Behind Their Patriotic Disguise The Tea Party Behaves Like The American Taliban

"No other group in America openly threatens violent insurrection against the legally elected government of the United States, passes nullifications laws, supports theocracy, and no patriot calls for assassinating elected representatives for their votes. Republicans are just as culpable for not tamping down threats and calls for revolution or civil war, and openly advocating for armed revolution if President Obama won re-election.” There is a reason teabag leaders advocate for armed resistance against the federal government and it is because they know their followers are bound to take them seriously and begin an uprising to overthrow the government evident in gun zealots stockpiling weapons and ammunition to defend themselves against government tyranny they never claimed during the Bush Administration, and it exposes their real anti-American bent is racial animus. Teabaggers were content with millions of jobs lost, a decimated economy, and unnecessary wars so long as a white man was president, but they became uber-patriots fighting tyranny when an African American was elected President."

No conservative thought can survive except in isolation, and if in isolation then it is unable to react to the realities of the moment. The modern Republican Party, and conservative movement can be summed up as a collective of putting their fingers in their ears and pretending not to hear what people are telling them."

"Now, instead of the $7 million in renovations and upgrades, the cost to replace the collapsed bridge will run $15 million and take up to a year. The collapse will cost an estimated $47 million in reduced productivity and trade. With the current average tax revenue from this total for trade and productivity in dealing with trade to Canada to be around 22%, the result is that this bridge collapse will cost the federal government $10 million in revenue for the period of repair, which when added to the $15 million pricetag means that we are looking at a total impact of $25 million. All in order to save $7 million.

"It’s all “reckless spending” and “don’t tread on me!” until Republicans feel the hits of spending cuts. Suddenly, they strongly disapprove of the spending cuts championed by their party. This is also odd, because we’ve been told for years that they are the makers and this is “their” money. If that’s true, how did government cuts impact them by a larger percentage than Democrats?
They protest spending, but now they’re upset that they got their way."

Idiot Guv | Common Dreams
"Nowadays Maine has an Appalled by LePage website, with an Appall-O-Meter usually set at 90%. We have bumper stickers that say, "One of 61% of Mainers Embarrassed by our Governor."
